Mini BreatheBlue 2025
Mini BreatheBlue 2025 on July 10, 2025 was all about building a connection, between young minds and the environment, between art and activism, between imagination and impact.
This year, our signature tear and paste activity invited students to build their own turtle using recycled paper scraps, each piece a symbol of how even waste can be transformed into something meaningful. But this wasn’t just a craft, it was an adoption. Every child was asked to name their turtle using their own last name, encouraging them to take ownership and responsibility for the little life they’d created.
Through that one simple act, they weren’t just crafting a creature, instead they were making a promise, writing heart felt messages to their own version of Blue the Turtle. One of the messages read, “Hi Blue, I miss you. I know you are alone and sad, but don’t worry I will soon come to save you when I become the Prime Minister” highlighting the big courage in little hearts.
Our educators then guided students through an engaging session on the three Rs, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and the power of the circular economy, connecting it to the real-world issue of endangered sea turtles affected by ocean waste. We talked about how choosing to reuse a bottle or say no to plastic directly protects marine life. We didn’t just teach facts, we built empathy.
By the end of the day, each child walked away not just with a handmade turtle, but with a deeper understanding of why saving the planet starts with caring about it.
Mini BreatheBlue 2025 reminded us: the earlier we learn to protect what we love, the longer we’ll fight to keep it safe.
