On Trump s Recent Comment

Updated: Mar 1

Wasn't Trump supposed to concentrate on "making America great again" rather than "back to plastic"?

Trump, or as he puts it, many Americans are "wildly dissatisfied with their straws."

But just to state the facts, the wildlife down there in the marine environment is even wildly dissatisfied with our choice of straws, as it's costing them their lives.

The purpose of the straw is to take the liquid to the lips, be it paper or plastic. However, plastic straws are often mistaken for food and eaten by wildlife, including seabirds and turtles. Trump cannot bear the mild inconvenience caused by paper straws, so he decided to jeopardize the lives of so many marine mammals, letting them 'munch' on the poison we decided to throw in their element.

From now on, no more complaints from the sharks for munching on humans.🥲

People who have the privilege of calling the climate crisis a scam do not usually have to face the brunt of it. Plastic straws are not recyclable, so they end up in landfills and incinerators, as well as littering our streets, parks, and roadsides, clogging our gutters, rivers, lakes, and streams, and polluting our environment where they may persist for more than 200 years. But Trump and many like him do not have to face similar challenges; it's often the 'have-nots' of society who face the immediate downside of it.

Trump's stance contrasts sharply with environmental concerns about plastic pollution. As per Earth org, each year, the world produces 400 million tonnes of plastic waste, with only 9% being recycled and 60% ending up in the natural environment. Plastic production, mainly from fossil fuels, contributes 3.4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, which is similar to the emissions from the entire aviation industry.

The US plastic industry alone produces 232 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions annually, which equals the output of 116 coal-fired power plants, according to a report in TOI. Single-use plastics, like straws and cutlery, are really harmful. Making them uses lots of energy and resources, but we only use them briefly.Such commodities are used momentarily and later contribute to the deterioration of the environment.

Mr. President, if paper straws are a bother, we suggest drinking directly from the container, which won't affect you or the shark, and enjoy your eco-friendly drink from the glass itself. Happy eco-friendly drinking from the glass itself;)
